Mrs. Heather Ciolek
Hello! This is my ninth year teaching 3rd grade at Rising Sun Elementary School, and it is my 30th year as an elementary school teacher. Throughout my career, I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. I have always enjoyed working with children, so
becoming a teacher was an easy decision.
I grew up in the Lancaster, PA area, where my family operated a dairy farm. I grew to love and respect animals, and I was very
active in 4-H. Today I live in Oxford, PA with my husband and two very active children, whom we were blessed to adopt. My
daughter, Zoey, is in 10th grade this year, and my son, Cody, is in 8th grade this year.
My career and family keep me very busy, but when I am not at a youth sports event, I enjoy reading mystery novels and thrillers,
running, hiking, cooking, going to the beach, and spending time with friends. My favorite color is purple, my favorite foods are
pizza and dark chocolate, and my favorite sports team is the Philadelphia Eagles. Go Birds! I am looking forward to another
great school year at RSES!

Mrs. Kate Frank
I love teaching 3rd grade at Rising Sun! This is my 22nd year teaching in Cecil County and my 12th year at Rising Sun Elementary
School. I previously taught at Gilpin Manor Elementary. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade during my time with CCPS.
I received my undergraduate degree from Penn State University and my Master's degree from McDaniel College. I am a huge Penn State
fan!
I enjoy reading, fishing, painting, and crafting. I also enjoy boating and traveling the world with my husband and two stepdaughters,
Jessica and Julia. Julia is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina, and Jessica is graduating from The University of Alabama this
year! I love animals and have three dogs (Oscar, Gilbert, & Skye), one fish, and 8 chickens! I'm looking forward to another great year at
RSES!

Mrs. Amy McDowell
I am excited to continue my journey at Rising Sun Elementary as a 2nd and 3rd grade ELA teacher. I live in Rising Sun with my
husband and our three boys; Wyatt, Levi, and Bryce. Many of you may recognize me from the baseball fields or simply because I
am a Rising Sun native. My favorite things in life are my family, watching my kids play sports, the color pink, Dunkin' coffee, and
reading!
