Hello Rising Sun Families! I am very excited to join the first grade teaching team as I enter my first year of teaching! I received my
degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Delaware, and I graduated high school from the Tome School.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine since elementary school; my mom and aunts are all in the education system, so you
could say that a love for teaching runs in my family! I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my dogs, Pete and Dakota. I
am very excited for this upcoming school year!
Mrs. Cindy Petinga
Hello families! This will be my 37th year of teaching and I have spent my entire career here at Rising Sun Elementary, mostly teaching first grade. I LOVE teaching first grade and am excited to begin a new year! I live in Newark, Delaware, with my husband, Tony, two sons, Joe and Ryan, and dog, Rocky. Joe is 25 and graduated from the University of Delaware in 2022 with a double major in Business and Marketing. He currently works as a lead teller for PNC Bank and is pursuing his MBA. Ryan is 21 and is about to begin his senior year at the University of Delaware. His major is Environmental Engineering. I cherish spending time with my family and do so as often as I can. I love gardening, being outdoors, watching birds, walking, playing with Rocky, and enjoying the beautiful world around me. I love going to the beach and spent a week in the Bahamas with my husband this summer. I love all Philadelphia sports teams! I welcome you to contact me as needed. Hello Rising Sun families! I’m so excited to join the first grade team this year at Rising Sun Elementary School. Although this is my first year at RSES, I have over 13 years of teaching experience. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University in North Carolina, and I’m also a proud graduate of Rising Sun High School! Teaching has always been my dream job, and I love creating a classroom where students feel supported, safe, and excited to learn. When I’m not at school I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband is a first grade teacher at Cecil Manor and we have a son named Camden. We also have two dogs named Kobe and Ryder. I also love coaching and playing field hockey and spending time at Deep Creek Lake with my family. I can’t wait for a fantastic school year full of growth, learning, and fun!

Ms. Eleanor Scully
Hello Rising Sun families! I am so excited to return with the first grade teaching team this school year. I started teaching kindergarten in 2008 after I earned my bachelor's degree from Wilmington University in Early Childhood Education. Since then I've earned my Master's Degree from La Salle University and I've worked in classrooms from infants through 1st grade! I love getting to know students and seeing their personalities shine. My favorite part of first grade is language arts, because I love reading!
When I'm not at school I enjoy spending time with my family. My daughter and I have two dogs and enjoy taking them on walks to the river where they can play and splash around. I also have been known to enjoy a superhero movie from time to time as well (team Superman!)
